I have lived and worked in Buckinghamshire for 26 years. Throughout this time I have been involved with many local projects and community schemes. I am an elected Green Party councillor for Buckinghamshire Unitary Authority. My working life was spent with the Prisons and Probation Service, the Ministry of Justice and victim related National and local charities.
I was part of the team that organised the successful community ownership scheme for Blooming Fruity, I am a Parish Councillor and a board member for the Chilterns National Landscapes, among others.
Dan moved to Haddenham from Surrey with his wife, Sarah and daughter, Nina in May 2023 and have loved being part of the community. Dan fell into Pub Management back in 2015 taking over a Surrey Village Pub until 2019 when he left to become a Regional Manager at Stonegate Pub Company, working with 46 Pubs in the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire areas. Both Dan and Sarah are heavily involved in local initiatives and community groups with Sarah part of the Haddenham St Mary's PTA and Dan an active member of the Haddenham Hillies Cycling Club and Haddenham Golf Society or HAGS as they are affectionately known.
Hi, I'm Rachel Zaltzman. By day I'm Deputy Director of Strategy and Portfolio at the Crown Prosecution Service. I lead the CPS's negotiations with HM Treasury on budgets and spending reviews and have taken it from a five hundred million organisation in 2021 to a one billion pound organisation in 2025. I also lead delivery of the CPS's half billion pound change portfolio, including a range of digital and workforce programmes to make the service fit for the future. By night (and particularly during the early hours of the morning) I'm a Mum to two small boys who have attended Bright Horizons Nursery in the village and Haddenham Community Infant School. We also have a very lively and loveable chocolate Springador who can be found most mornings chasing a neon stick around the Country Park. My husband and I moved to Haddenham in 2019. We both have strong track records of charitable fundraising, mainly for children's, disability and human rights organisations. For the Rose & Thistle Reborn, I have led on analysing the results of our survey, developing our vision and mission statement, running the successful GoFundMe campaign, and working as part of the social media team.
Primary carer for three young children, treasurer of both the local Greengrocers and Scout group, provide financial consultancy support to local businesses – helping them to make the strongest financial decisions
have lived in the village for 42 years and fondly remember taking my family to the Rose & Thistle where we sat in the garden, had great food and my young girls played safely. I also remember performing the Mummers Play when the RaT was always our last performance - we were made 'very welcome' resulting in a few sore heads the following day!
I've worked for a couple of local breweries and have been helping to run the Haddenham Beer Festivals for 23 years now and, for a while, I ran my own business providing outside bars for a wide variety of events. Pubs and bars are a vital aspect of British life bringing people together to socialise in a safe and comfortable environment. We must protect and maintain these valuable community assets.
Doug has been a resident of Haddenham for seven years and runs his architectural practice from his High Street office. For almost 40 years the practice has specialised in the design and construction of licenced premises, mainly public houses. So the opportunity to advise on, and design the layout for the proposed Rose and Thistle is a great opportunity to support the local community in their endeavours to restore the pub to it’s former glory with a modern touch. He is also on the committee of like-minded individuals calling themselves “Rose and Thistle Reborn “pursuing their dream of re-opening this iconic pub.
Richard has lived in and around the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire areas for most of his life albeit living his formative years in Blackburn Lancashire. He moved to Haddenham in 2024 with his wife Nikki and his 2 son’s James and Dexter. Richard is an avid collector (and drinker) of whisky and is also passionate about retro technology. He works for Greystar one of the world’s leading property developers, operators and investors.
Alex moved with his wife to Haddenham in 2007 and they have been raising two daughters since 2010 and 2012. They both attended Chearsley and Haddenham Under Fives (CHUF) pre-school, of which he is a trustee, St Mary’s primary school, and Haddenham Community Junior School. The two, then three, then four of them spent many a happy sunny day in the beer garden of the Rose and Thistle watching the children play in the Boot and then the adventure playground. When the sun did not have his hat on, they ate burgers and sunday roasts inside the higgledy-piggledy building. He would like to do this as a family again before the children leave home!
Alex is a certified chartered accountant by profession, having worked at many places such as Equitable Life in Aylesbury, and KPMG and Deloitte in Canary Wharf and the City respectively. He is now freelance, helping government entities solve accounting system and reporting problems. For the Rose and Thistle Reborn, he is the Treasurer of Haddenham Community Public House Limited and has been instrumental in getting the share offer ready
Lindsey has lived in Haddenham for almost 30 years and during that time has been involved with many community activities including Zero Carbon Haddenham, Haddenham Village Hall and, many years ago, helped to set up Wasps, the after school club. In her day job, she runs a charity for the advice sector.

A friendly and community-minded professional, I am a relatively recent arrival to Haddenham, having spent most of my life in London. With a background in finance and secretarial roles, I bring attention to detail and a practical, people-focused approach to everything I do. I am highly sociable and enjoy connecting with others, and I’m keen to become actively involved in the local community, contributing wherever I can and building lasting friendships
Keith was born in Leeds and his parents moved to Aylesbury when he was 1 . He supports Leeds United for his sins!! He moved to Haddenham 9 years ago with his wife Karen. He is a general builder and has worked for several people in the village who get involved with local charities and fund raising. It was this that made him think that he would like to get involved with this project in some capacity. Keith was involved with Blooming Fruity and has done a great deal of maintenance for the shop and still gets involved when required.
Keith volunteers with the beer festivals in Haddenham enjoying every minute and finds it extremely rewarding to be raising money for several charities. He has recently helped with the Haddenham Players building the sets for the pantomimes. He got involved with this project as he would like a restaurant in our lovely village.
He tries to support all of the local shops and the 2 pubs we have in the village and feels that saving the Rose & Thistle is vital. He has been working alongside Doug Taylor who is the architect on our group and between him and Doug they came up with the current plan and scheme.
Karen was brought up in Haddenham as a child until she was thirteen and then moved to Stone. She was baptised in the Baptist church & her Mother & Father were married there. She has been living back in Haddenham for just over 9 years again with her Husband Keith in a thatched cottage in the conservation area. She prides herself in being a descendant from one of the Rose families of the village & her Great Grandfathers name is even written on the war memorial down in Church End (William Rose).
She is a Picture Framer by trade & has been doing this since 1978. She is very passionate about the village & helps out in events including both the Summer & Winterfests. She remembers fondly that there were 3 pubs in Church End 2 of which are now residential homes (The Green Dragon & The Red Lion). This is why she became a member of The Rose & Thistle Reborn Team to stop this from happening to The Rose & Thistle & giving it a new lease of life for the community.
